Information about the presenting surgeons

Prof. Anand Pillai is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon at Manchester University Hospital, Wythenshawe with a specialist interest in Foot & Ankle Surgery. He trained in Orthopaedic and Foot surgery in the West of Scotland and has undertaken further sub-specialist fellowships in Adelaide, South Australia and Oxford. Prof. Pillai has also visited and worked with surgeons from SportsMed SA, Mater Hospital Sydney and Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital in Perth. Furthermore, Prof. Pillai has completed a fellowship in Ilizarov techniques and limb deformity correction at the world-renowned Russian Ilizarov Scientific Centre in Kurgan, Siberia. He was initially appointed as Consultant to Nine wells University Hospital and Dundee Medical School in Scotland, before moving to the North West. Prof. Pillai is a member of the EFAS research council and a committee member of AOFAS.

Wythenshawe hospital, located in South Manchester, is renowned for accepting patient referrals from surrounding hospitals for the treatment of complex trauma, bone infection, revision cases, difficult foot and ankle problems, diabetic feet and blast injuries. The orthoplastics service has an excellent system and treatment algorithm for the management of complex lower limb reconstruction.

Dr Brian Martin is an Australian trained orthopaedic surgeon. He attained the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2010 and he is a current Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (FAOrthA) as well as a member of the Australian Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS).

Dr Martin has been working for over a decade in the university teaching hospital at Nepean Public Hospital in Sydney as well as privately at Norwest Hospital and the Sydney Adventist Hospital. He has a particular interest in the management of diabetic foot complications especially infection management and Charcot foot reconstruction.

Dr. Victor Anciano is an Orthopedic Surgery Specialist in Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated with honors from Harvard Medical School in 2015. Having more than 10 years of diverse experience, especially in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Anciano affiliated with Jewish Hospital & St Mary's Healthcare cooperates with many other doctors and specialists in the medical group University of Louisville Physicians, Inc.
