Treatment of Canine Otitis Externa: Challenges and Solutions for Clinical Practice

Otitis Externa is one of the most common medical conditions affecting dogs in South Africa. Current treatment protocols can be challenging, especially when owners are not compliant. Dr Ken Kwochka will be exploring Otitis Externa, diagnostic and treatment challenges and offer a brand new solution to South Africa, ensuring confidence, control and convenience with just one dose.

We will be hosting two (repeat) sessions with Dr Ken Kwochka on the same day. The first session will be at 12h30-13h30 on the 23rd of February, and then repeated on the same day at 19h30-20h30. About our speaker: Dr Ken Kwochka, Dip. ACVD

Dr Kwochka is currently Head of Science and Education for Dermatology and Allergy at Elanco. He has been involved in all phases of veterinary medicine including 25 years of academic and private practice dermatology at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine where he was chief of the Dermatology Service, The Animal Dermatology Clinic in Marina del Rey, California, and Southeast Veterinary Dermatology and Ear Clinic in Mt. Pleasant and Greenville, South Carolina. Additionally, Ken has had positions in R&D, Commercial Services and Veterinary Scientific Affairs at Bayer Animal Health, Teva Animal Health and DVM Pharmaceuticals.

Dr Kwochka received his DVM degree from the University of Missouri. After an Internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at South Shore Veterinary Associates in Boston, he completed a Residency in Veterinary Dermatology at the University of Florida.

Ken has authored over 100 scientific papers and book chapters, has edited three books and several congress proceedings, and has been a scientific reviewer for numerous professional publications. He has delivered over 600 scientific papers and continuing education programs nationally and internationally.

Dr Kwochka is Past-President of the World Association for Veterinary Dermatology (WAVD) and the American College of Veterinary Dermatology. He is a Fellow of the Morris Animal Foundation, recipient of the Stanford University School of Medicine Outstanding Veterinary Dermatologist Award and recipient of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology Award of Excellence, for contributions to science and education in the specialty.
