James joined Vermeer Partners in 2019 as a founding partner and is responsible for managing investment portfolios for individuals, trusts, companies, charities and pensions. He started his career at Quilter & Co in 1998 before joining Laing & Cruickshank Investment Management in 2003 as an Associate Director. In 2006, He helped establish Cheviot Asset Management, where he made Partner in 2010. James is a member of the partnership's Funds, Alternatives & Fixed Income, Operations, Nominations & Remuneration, and Executive Committees. He also serves on the board of Vermeer Investment Management Limited. He graduated from Queen Mary University of London with a BSc (Hons) in Biology and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investment.
Bill joined the company in August 2017 and in 2019 was appointed Chief Investment Officer. He is also chairman of the Asset Allocation Committee and a member of the Management Committee. Bill was previously Head of Investment Strategy at Coal Pension Trustees, helping to run the £20 billion Coal Industry pension schemes. Prior to that he had the same job title at Kames Capital in Edinburgh where he was responsible for managing several different funds and client mandates. He began his career with investment bank PaineWebber and subsequently worked for investment banks Merrill Lynch and UBS Warburg in a variety of research roles in London, New York and Hong Kong. He has MA degrees in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Trinity College, Oxford and in American Government from Georgetown University, Washington DC.
Guy was appointed Chief Executive Officer of London & Capital in November 2019, having joined the firm in 2015 as Chief Operating Officer. As Chief Executive Officer of the combined London & Capital and Waverton business he is responsible for the overall strategic direction and growth of W1M. Guy has over twenty years’ experience in private banking and wealth management and has held senior roles in Coutts & Co. and Kleinwort Benson where his areas of responsibility included strategy, client management, products and services and operational management. Prior to his move into wealth management, Guy was an investment banker with Hawkpoint Partners in London and UBS in Zurich.
Rupert is Head of Private Clients. He looks after direct client relationships taking responsibility for portfolio construction through to reporting. Rupert has a particular specialism looking after international clients, including, trusts, offshore bond funds and offshore trust structures with international tax considerations. He also looks after resident domiciled clients working closely with families across multiple generations of beneficiaries. Rupert has experience with complex structures including US reporting requirements. Rupert works closely with the in-house financial planning team to assist clients in all aspects of their financial journey and is part of the Management Committee. Rupert is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) having passed the CISI Diploma. He has a degree in Geography from Exeter University and joined the firm in 2001 with previous experience at INVESCO Asset Management and Ely Fund Managers.
