A Financial Advisor’s Guide to Open Enrollment for Medicare and the Marketplace

About this event

Open Enrollment is a specific time of the year when you can modify your Medicare or Marketplace coverage — if only it was that simple! There is a lot of nuance to the timing and types of changes that can be made.

This webinar, approved for one CE Credit by the CFP Board, will first cover Medicare Open Enrollment, providing an overview of its pieces and parts, what they cover, and their general associated costs. With those basics understood, it will then jump into the many types of modifications that can be made during Medicare Open Enrollment, running annually from Oct 15 - Dec 7.

Following this, the webinar will transition to a similar structure for the Marketplace, applicable to pre-65 retirees, business owners, and dependents, covering an overview first and then applicable changes that can be made. The webinar will wrap up with case studies and direct cost savings opportunities of going through this exercise with clients as part of your financial planning process.

By the end of the webinar, you'll be able to:

  • Accurately recall the dates and timelines of the Open Enrollment period for both Medicare and the Marketplace.
  • Identify changes that are possible during the Medicare Open Enrollment period.
  • Identify changes that are possible during the Marketplace Open Enrollment period.
  • Understand the financial impact of not reviewing insurance coverage annually.
