If you are developing product variants for multiple customers in different markets you might have different restrcitions per market or even per customer that have to be taken into account in the configuration of new variants.
Additionally, you might want to initially reduce the set of available features for one market or customer or include a specific feature in all variants for that market or customer.
In these cases, staged inheritance can be used to model a multi-level variant configuration with support for separate rules that are market or customer specific.
