Wastewater Surveillance for SARS-CoV-2: from Proof-of-Concept to Established Practice

About this event

Surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater can be a cost-effective, rapid, and reliable source of information on the spread of COVID-19 in the population, and it has been used globally to inform public health decision-making. Initially dominated by proof-of-concept studies and research projects, the field has recently attracted government funding in several geographies and is becoming an established practice. This webinar will focus on how to ensure wastewater surveillance provides high quality and actionable public health data at scale and will present the opportunity for environmental engineers to drive positive public health outcomes in municipalities, universities, long-term care facilities, and other commercial entities.

The panelists will present concrete examples of wastewater surveillance contributing to improved public health:

  • Scott Griggs, ALS
  • Zuzana Bohrerova, PhD, The Ohio State University
  • Paul Storella, PE, AECOM
  • Brian Swalla, PhD, IDEXX
  • Jeff Bates, IDEXX
