What the Hack? Stop the Attack! Episode 2: A Lesson on Safeguarding Student Records

About this event

Show of hands: Who knows how many K-12 schools in the U.S. were affected by ransomware attacks in 2022? The answer: 1,981 schools. From disrupting operations to accessing student records, it’s crucial to prioritize proactive cybersecurity measures, such as student and employee training and developing a robust incident response plan.

Knowledge is power, which is why Kent Cartwright, ProLion Solutions Engineer and Certified Ethical Hacker, will demonstrate a live ransomware attack in which a school’s network is compromised after a student unwittingly downloads a malicious app onto their laptop. He will then discuss a “fourth layer” of last-chance protection that goes beyond endpoint detection, network detection, and backups, which can be added to a school’s multi-layered cybersecurity plan.
