Challenging Refractive Cases

About this event

2 HOUR COPE APPROVED CONTINUING EDUCATION

Dean Ellis, M.D. is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Ellis received his medical degree in ophthalmology from the University of North Carolina. Since 1998, he has performed over 80,000 LASIK procedures making him one of the most experienced LASIK surgeons in the Midwest.

The field of optometry is constantly evolving at a rapid pace and optometrists are relatively uninformed about the evolution and most current technology in the field of kerato-refractive surgery. Many optometrists refer patients for refractive surgery but don’t have a lot of experience evaluating corneal topography to determine if a patient is a good candidate. Many OD’s may not have knowledge of the current results of refractive surgery. Practice gaps were determined from feedback from local co-managing OD and eye care colleagues in the area. We also took into account questions and concerns regarding post-refractive care.
