Scammers are increasingly using AI to deceive people. While the media focuses mainly on deep fakes, a lot more is happening. In this webinar, C4ADS, Microsoft, OpenAI will share some of the abuse they see in the marketplace to learn how fraudsters are really using AI to scam. In the second half of the hour, we will discuss, how AI can be used to counter these threats.

    Jorij Abraham is Managing Director of the Global Anti Scam Alliance, whose mission is to prevent consumers worldwide from getting scammed. Before, he has been Managing Director of ScamAdviser.com, Director of Research at Thuiswinkel.org (the Dutch Ecommerce Association) and Ecommerce Europe.

    Jack Stubbs Intelligence & Investigations @ OpenAI

    Jack Stubbs is a member of OpenAI’s Intelligence & Investigations team, where he leads efforts to detect and disrupt AI-enabled scams and fraud. Previously, he served as Chief Intelligence Officer at Graphika, where he built and led a team of open-source intelligence analysts focused on identifying and mitigating online security threats. Jack began his career as a Reuters correspondent, reporting from Russia and Ukraine before moving to cover cybersecurity.

    Dora Cheng is a Principal Product Manager and anti fraud leader who leads the Microsoft 365 Fraud & Abuse Program at Microsoft. She works on the frontlines of defending customers against scams driving a defense in depth approach to fraud and abuse prevention, detection, containment, and response across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Exchange, OneDrive and SharePoint, Teams and others.

    Aparajitha Vadlamannati Public Policy Manager; Search Quality @ Google

    At the forefront of information integrity, Aparajitha focuses on navigating the complex landscape of AI-enabled threats to protect users from misinformation and fraud. Prior to Google, Aparajitha spent several years at Meta managing high stakes crises and leading the development of Community Standards on topics ranging from regulated goods to sexual exploitation. Her extensive background includes roles at the Atlantic Council and the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping, where she applied strategic foresight to international security challenges. Aparajitha holds a Master’s degree in Public Diplomacy from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor’s in Global Studies from San Jose State University, bringing a deep global perspective to the fight against evolving digital scams.

    Mollie Zapata is the Senior Director of Analysis at C4ADS, overseeing programs on organized crime, human security and conflict prevention, and wildlife and natural resource security. Mollie has spent her career applying new methods and advanced technologies to further human rights and prevent atrocities, including positions at the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.
