Passkeys make Advanced Protection Programs possible. This session covers the UX that makes them work — and shows an example of one that was built using Entra External ID

The Advanced Protection Programs from Apple, Google, and OpenAI use passkeys for a reason: they stop phishing at the authentication layer and make recovery deliberately hard to compromise. But if you're building your own app, how do you do the same thing?

In this 45-minute session, we walk through why Advanced Protection Programs are necessary, the passkey UX patterns and architecture that make Advanced Protection work — and show a demo of the best practices built on Microsoft Entra External ID. We'll cover what great passkey UX actually looks like (for both platform authenticators and security keys), how to manage credentials via Microsoft Graph, and how to think honestly about the tradeoffs in recovery design.

You'll leave with reusable agent-readable design specs and a clear picture of how to build Advanced Protection into your own application.
