Barcelona Biofilm Summit by Alimentaria FoodTech is a specialized congress to analyze in depth and provide an updated vision about the issue posed by the presence of biofilms in food and beverage production plants, and to showcase risk control and mitigation strategies.

    Dr. Carolina Ripolles-Avila Lecturer Serra Hunter @ Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain

    Graduate in CTA (UAB) and Master in Food Science, Safety and Health (Heriot-Watt University). At these moments, she works as a Serra Hunter Lecturer in the Department of Animal and Food Science in the Veterinary Faculty at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Her research focuses on the control of pathogenic biofilms on industrial food surfaces, especially the control of Listeria monocytogenes, both in the detection and elimination of such structures.

    Dr. Ana Allende Scientific researcher @ CEBAS CSIC, Spain

    Dr. Ana Allende is a research scientist at CEBAS-CSIC where her work focuses on the safety of fresh fruit and vegetables. She is currently a member of the BIOHAZ Panel of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), with which she has been collaborating for more than five years. She graduated in Food Science and Technology from the University of León and obtained her PhD from the University of Cartagena.     Dr. Pedro Rodríguez López Researcher in Food Safety @ Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona

    Pedro Rodríguez has a degree in Biology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a degree in Biological Sciences from Coventry University. He holds a Master's degree in Applied Microbiology and a PhD in Microbiology, both from the UAB. As a researcher, he has worked at the Marine Research Institute of Vigo studying the ecology, physiology and sociomicrobiology of mixed biofilms carrying Listeria monocytogenes on surfaces of the fishing, meat and dairy industry in Galicia and Asturias using independent culture methods. He has also worked as a researcher and lecturer at the University of Parma (Italy). Now, he works as a researcher in the Department of Animal and Food Science in the group of the Prof. José Juan Rodríguez at the UAB.

    Dr. Darla Goeres is a Research Professor of Regulatory Science at the Center for Biofilm Engineering. For the last 25 years, Dr. Goeres has focused on the development and validation of standard test methods for growing and treating biofilm bacteria that enable for informed decision making and innovation on products designed for the marketplace.     Irene Ylla Innovation & Application Manager @ Christeyns, Spain

    Biologist and PhD in Limnology by University of Girona. She studied the role of biofilms in aquatic systems and participated in multiple international projects targeting biofilms. Afterwards, she moved to the food sector and worked as APPCC Technical Director and Quality manager in a ready- to-eat food company. She gained a great experience in quality related topics. Nowadays, she is the Innovation & Application Manager at CHRISTEYNS Spain and focuses her attention to the detection and removal of biofilms in the food industry.

    Dr. Sara Bover Researcher and head of the Food Safety and Functionality Program @ IRTA, Spain

    Undergraduate degree and PhD in Farmacy (UB). Currently, researcher and responsible of the Food Safety program at IRTA (Monells, Girona), focusing her activity in improving food safety and microbiological quality. She is a member of the BIOHAZ board of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
