Single Unique OECS ID: what does it take?

Countries in the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) face a number of common challenges in a context of increasing global competitiveness. Public sector modernization is key to improving efficiency and competitiveness in the region, placing an emphasis on using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to improve internal efficiency, delivery of public services, coordination among agencies and transparency and accountability of the public sector, with the objective of the free flow of persons and goods as part of a regionally integrated Economic Union.

To achieve these objectives, countries have already implemented number of actions and steps, however they may have been at different phase of implementation and vary in their scopes. There is a need for a clear action plan that would allow at complete implementation of the OECS Unique ID.

The Webinar will cover the main stages of person’s unique legal identity:

  • life cycle starting from the birth and assignment of unique identifier - to know your people,
  • issuance of ID document - to give them means to prove who they are in physical world,
  • provision of eID means - to give them means to prove who they are in digital world,
  • best practices and experience in how regional solutions work in other regions,
  • directions on what does it take to introduce Unique ID.
