About this event
Join us to learn more about an Innovative approach using a long-term exposure of passive samplers to characterize organic micropollutant mixtures during the Joint Danube Survey 4 :
In 2021, the Joint Danube Survey 4 collected comprehensive data using an innovative long-term exposure approach to monitor the biology, microbiology, hydromorphology, and chemical contamination of the Danube River. Passive samplers using disks HLB and silicon rubbers were used in 9 different sites to monitor pharmaceuticals, pesticides, PAHs, POPs, and more. The sampling period took place during the summer (100 days) along the Danube.
Branislav Vrana is an associate professor of environmental chemistry at the RECETOX center of Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. His research focuses on pollutant monitoring in the aquatic environment, the development of sampling and analytical methods, and investigating the fate and risks of chemicals in surface water, wastewater, and sediments.
By attending this first presentation (Part 1 - Chemical Assessment), you will learn:
We also invite you to join us in February for Part 2 :
Pavel Šauer is a research scientist at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, specializing in in vitro toxicology. His research focuses on the application of these techniques to aquatic pollution studies, aiming to improve the understanding of environmental risks and effects on aquatic ecosystems.
