Future Fest 2023: Adaptive Reuse Masterclass With Foster + Partners

With Taba Rasti | Foster + Partners

In this adaptive reuse special, architect Taba Rasti, Senior Partner and co-director of Foster + Partners' Madrid Office, will take us through the making of the stunning, A+Award-winning Ombú. Ombú is a transformative office building built for the Spanish infrastructure and energy company ACCIONA. The project breathes new life into a historic industrial building in Madrid, creating an exemplar of building reuse and revitalizing the surrounding area.

This shared vision of sustainability was presented at COP 26 as the most sustainable project so far realised by Foster + Partners, transcending the usual ratings to meet in full the Paris Agreement targets.

By attending this talk, you'll learn:

  • The importance of working with the urban fabric of our cities, by recycling buildings that can breathe a new life in the future, regenerating the city.
  • Strategies that we can take to effectively reduce carbon emissions in our designs in order to reduce their impact on the Planet.
  • Collaboration between the private and public sector,  creating a sense of place for the city and the neighborhood.
