The Baltic Exchange invites you to their event

Managing volatile container freight rates and improving contract security...

About this event

...Using time-efficient index-linked contracts and FFAs

The Baltic Exchange will be hosting a webinar to discuss how the FBX Index can be used to manage risk in the container freight market. The container freight market has found its way into the mainstream news recently thanks to soaring rates in recent months and lack of capacity. The annual contracting season has also seen some changes, as some Shippers are reluctant to sign contracts that leave their boxes at the quayside regardless, and some Carriers push customers onto spot instead.

In this webinar, we will address how the market can not only mitigate the extremes of this freight volatility but also improve the efficiency and validity of contracts using the FBX Global Container Index. We will talk about indexation; linking the pricing of your physical contracts to a trusted index and how this should ultimately create a more efficient and time-saving means of contracting. We will also consider the final piece of the puzzle, FFAs, which whether used alone or in conjunction with an index linked contract, offers a diverse range of possibilities to help manage volatile container freight rates.

Agenda

  • The pitfalls of the current price discovery methods
  • Index-linking and how it can reduce costs and save time and effort whilst also increasing the security of contracts. Moving beyond the pricing conversation to improve execution and service
