Tracking Athletes: Quantifying and Monetizing Performance

About this event

We track athletes. We connect athletes. We quantify athletes. But not all athlete-tracking data is equal. From wearables to cameras, there’s an endless array of information being generated: internal versus external, personal versus positional, biometrics versus biomechanics. Technology produces data that can be used to improve recovery, improve training methods, improve performance, and other data that can potentially be monetized for sports betting.

While the collective bargaining agreements across U.S. professional sports leagues are skewing towards voluntary participation with regard to wearable technology, many of the major leagues already use some combination of optical, radar, or radio tracking. And even staunch defenders who say athletes should have sole ownership of their own wearable data acknowledge there are still thorny issues that arise from tracking.

Register to hear our recent discussion with Jill Stelfox, former executive at Zebra Technologies, who led the growth of Zebra Sports, including a partnership with the NFL for RFID-based player tracking. Super Bowl Champion and Founder of Dynasty Sports Group, Marques Colston, and NFLPA VP of Business & Legal Affairs, Casey Schwab.

This webinar is part of SportTechie’s partnership with CTA and CES Sports Tech Innovation.
