This talk will highlight case studies demonstrating the potential of dissolution recycling to enable true circularity in plastics. Unlike traditional mechanical or chemical recycling, dissolution separates polymers from additives and contaminants using selective solvents — without breaking down the polymer chains. This gentle yet highly effective process maintains the material’s original quality and properties, making it ideal for applications that require high-purity recyclates.
Speakers will explore how this approach transforms previously unrecyclable plastics — such as multi-layer packaging or heavily contaminated streams — into high-quality feedstocks suitable for new production. They will also showcase how dissolution recycling reduces carbon emissions compared to virgin material production, bridges the quality gap between recycled and virgin polymers, and opens scalable, sustainable pathways for the plastics industry’s circular transition.
