The DevOps lifecycle exists to support these goals all while establishing a robust pipeline that prevents bad code from entering production that would endanger their success.
But there’s a large gap between a site that’s down and a site that performs flawlessly, and everything in between has to do with performance. How well do your apps perform under heavy traffic? What’s resource consumption like throughout the day and the year? How confident are you that the code your team has written is optimized for performance? How about six months from now?
This talk focuses on this exact problem, and refocuses the performance of web applications into a feature in its own right - something to be measured, tested, and optimized throughout your DevOps lifecycle. In this case, we’ll see how Blackfire.io’s application performance monitoring, profiling, and performance testing capabilities enable development teams to define a Continuous Observability Strategy for their business. red

Chad Carlson Manager, Developer Relations @ Platform.shG
Chad Carlson manages the Developer Relations team at Platform.sh. Chad spent a large portion of his professional career in academia, where he worked primarily in vision science laboratories investigating how our visual systems detect motion, the relationship between eye movements, and where reinforcement learning fits into a larger evolutionary context of neuroscience. These days he can typically be found writing, cooking, or working on projects in Python, Node.js, Go, and whatever new language Platform.sh supports and wants another pair of eyes on. The DevRel team advocates for Platform.sh and Blackfire.io, builds and maintains a large fleet of example deployment code across programming languages and frameworks, and writes technical documentation and training resources.
