About our speaker

Prof. Johan Schoeman BVSc, MMedVet, PhD, DSAM, Dipl.ECVIM, FRCVS

Prof Johan Schoeman is an internationally-recognised small animal physician with a PhD in Endocrinology from the University of Cambridge. He obtained his specialist status from the SAVC, the RCVS and the European College more than 20 years ago. Over the years he has supervised more than 20 Masters and Doctoral students, published more than 85 peer-reviewed papers and more than 10 Book Chapters, amongst others in the BSAVA Manual of Endocrinology and in Ettinger's Textbook of Veterinary Internal Medicine. The RCVS recently awarded him a Fellowship for meritorious contribution to small animal practice and he is the current Chair of the Internal Medicine Specialty of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. He enjoys reading, writing and talking about the fascinating complexities of the endocrine system
