Building upon the failure analysis, this session outlines actionable next steps to enhance part robustness and remediate the root causes of failure. For the identified failure modes, we will discuss strategies such as investigating material alternatives, optimizing part design, alongside essential lifetime prediction testing.
Furthermore, this webinar will address potential contributing factors to failure, such as molecular degradation, porosity, high molded-in residual stresses due to processing as well as stress concentrations from part geometry. For these factors, we will detail remediation pathways, including thorough part design review, process review, Moldflow analysis, and tooling review.

Erik Foltz is a Certified Professional Moldflow® Consultant. He received his M.S. from the Polymer Engineering Center at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. His specialties include plastic part design verification, process optimization and troubleshooting for injection and compression molding, and plastics failure. He has experience with thermoplastic, thermoset, elastomeric, and composite materials.
