The world is undergoing an information explosion at the same time business is becoming more competitive. People with the skills to help businesses and society innovate are in demand. The deluge of data that modern systems generate is transforming business, government, science and healthcare. Conventional manual techniques, however, aren’t capable of handling the deluge of data that modern systems generate. Data science, which uses specialised computational and statistical techniques to analyse big data and solve challenging problems, is a key skill of the 21st century.
