This panel discussion will explore how government can leverage growth in data, and advances in analytic-driven decision making to scale automated service delivery while facing a paradigm shift in how our societies and economies function in the wake of a global pandemic.

    Lachlan Rudd eHealth NSW

    Lachlan Rudd is eHealth NSW’s Director of Data and Analytics. Lachlan lead’s a new portfolio overseeing and coordinating all data and analytics related projects within eHealth NSW, which are growing in number and importance as progress is made towards the implementation of eHealth Strategy for NSW and the NSW Health Analytics Framework. Lachlan’s previous role was Product Owner at Quantium, a company that specialises in the development of AI driven big data products. In this role he lead teams of data scientists, developers, testers and analysts in both India and Australia. He oversaw development and support of products deployed across North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Lachlan has also worked for CSIRO in Canberra, where he delivered health projects for state and federal governments.     David Scott works within Transport for NSW leveraging Analytics, Data and Research to deliver insights that support improvements in Transport Planning, Operations and Customer Experience. David has worked across the Banking, Telecommunications, and Transport industries applying a customer led approach using data to secure better outcomes. His experience in Analytics spans more than 20 years, and he holds a Master’s in Business Administration.

    Dr Ian Oppermann NSW Government Chief Data Scientist @ Department of Customer Service

    Dr. Ian Oppermann is the NSW Government’s Chief Data Scientist working within the Department of Customer Service. He is also an Industry Professor at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). From 2015 to 2019, Ian was also the CEO of the NSW Data Analytics Center (DAC). Ian has nearly 30 years’ experience in the ICT sector and, has led organizations with more than 300 people, delivering products and outcomes that have impacted hundreds of millions of people globally. He has held senior management roles in Europe and Australia as Director for Radio Access Performance at Nokia, Global Head of Sales Partnering (network software) at Nokia Siemens Networks, and then Divisional Chief and Flagship Director at CSIRO.     As an independent consultant, Paul specialises in strategic advisory services aimed at helping organisations make the most effective use of information and digital capabilities. He also lectures and researches with Deakin University and Epworth Healthcare in the field of Health Informatics. He has a unique blend of insights from his experience in medical research, IT, business consulting and digital marketing. Most recently Paul was Acting Director Digital Health for Department of Health & Human Services (Vic). Paul obtained a Ph.D at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (Melb.
