Best Practices for Diverting, Preventing & Managing Wasted Food

About this event

Tackling food waste can yield many benefits for businesses, nonprofits, institutions and municipal governments that are directly or indirectly involved with food management and/or food recovery. The New York State Pollution Prevention Institute will present on experiences across New York State focused on turning waste streams into value-add products, setting up a diversion program, and a implementing a community scale composting pilot. We will also highlight available resources that include technical assistance, best practices, and tools to reduce and recover food waste through the Institute.

About New York State Pollution Prevention Institute

The New York State Pollution Prevention Institute (NYSP2I) is sponsored by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation through the Environmental Protection Fund, the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute is led by the Golisano Institute for Sustainability at Rochester Institute of Technology, and is a partnership between RIT, Binghamton University, Clarkson University, Cornell University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. NYSP2I also works with the New York Manufacturing Extension Partnership to help disseminate data and strategy.
