[MM] The 5 Dysfunctions of Modern Teams: How to Identify What's Really Holding Your Team Back

About this event

In many teams, problems become visible somewhere other than where they originate. Decisions are made, only to be reopened later. Conflict is avoided in the meeting and resurfaces afterwards. Accountability remains unclear. Individual priorities begin to compete with shared goals.

In this compact Lunch & Learn, you will be introduced to Patrick Lencioni’s Five Dysfunctions of a Team model. It describes five interconnected challenges: absence of trust, fear of conflict, lack of commitment, avoidance of accountability, and inattention to collective results.

The model helps leaders look beyond individual symptoms and identify how different team problems may be connected. The objective is not to address all five areas at once, but to identify the most useful point of intervention for your own team.

What you will learn:

  • The five dysfunctions and how they relate to one another
  • How to recognise common warning signs in your own team
  • How to distinguish visible symptoms from possible underlying causes
  • How to identify one practical area to address first

Methods we will explore:

  • The Five Dysfunctions pyramid
  • From symptom to possible cause: how to look beneath the surface
  • The fourth level: how avoidance of accountability becomes visible in teams
  • The team check: where does your team stand today?

What you'll leave with:

A clearer picture of your team’s current dynamics and practical methods you can apply immediately.

Format:

10–15 minutes of expert input, followed by 10–15 minutes of open discussion and Q&A.
