NIST Cybersecurity Framework and Developments

Cherilyn Pascoe is Senior Technology Policy Advisor at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), U.S. Department of Commerce. She advises NIST leadership on technology policy and strategy, including cybersecurity, privacy, and artificial intelligence. Prior to joining NIST, she served more than a decade in staff leadership roles on the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. During her time on the Hill, she led efforts to develop and advance several notable pieces of legislation, including ten cybersecurity laws.

During her talk, Cherilyn will provide an overview of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) - and how its common taxonomy is leveraged to increase cybersecurity awareness and maturity across organizations, between IT, Security and Business Leaders, and across nations. From thereon, Cheri will elaborate on NIST’s plans for the update of the Framework: CSF 2.0. Cherilyn is accompanied by Alisha, who will share her personal experiences as security practitioner, pitfalls and best practices for implementing the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and how to get started.
