About this event
📅 Date: Wednesday, July 24th, 2024 🕓 Time: 10:00 AM BST | 🎯Duration: 60 mins
The new RICS 2nd edition whole-life carbon assessment standard comes into effect in July 2024, having been extended to cover all buildings and infrastructure throughout the built environment life cycle. This significant update means assessors will be able to estimate the amount of carbon emitted throughout the life cycle of a constructed asset, from the early stages of development through to the end of life.
The UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) is a membership-led industry network, radically transforming the sustainability of the built environment. Powered by 700+ members, they are at the forefront of influencing policy across the industry, and their widely-adopted Net Zero Carbon Buildings Framework — an overarching set of guiding principles — encourages a ‘reduction first’ approach to achieving net zero carbon
RICS, UKGBC, and other industry bodies have joined forces to champion the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard — a single, agreed methodology coming into effect in 2024, for the industry to robustly prove their built assets are net zero carbon and in line with our nation’s climate targets.
In this webinar you will hear from UKGBC’s Senior Advisor - Advancing Net Zero, Alex Benstead, about the work being undertaken by UKGBC and how the updated RICS standard is having an impact, as well as his views on current UK benchmarks and whether they’re clear enough to guide the industry.
You will also hear from One Click LCA’s New Products Lead, Johanna Jarvinen, about how the industry can align to the updated RICS 2nd edition standard with the One Click LCA life-cycle assessment software.
