About this event
Join Viktor Kessler, co-founder of Vakamo and former technical leader at MongoDB and Dremio, for an in-depth technical exploration of how Apache Iceberg is fundamentally transforming the data engineering landscape.
In this comprehensive session, Viktor will dissect the technical architecture that makes Iceberg Lakehouse a game-changer for modern data teams. You'll gain deep technical insights into:
The webinar includes a live technical demonstration of Lakekeeper, showcasing real-world implementation patterns and performance optimisations. While Olake integration as a write compute layer is still in development, Viktor will explore future integration possibilities and optimisation strategies.
Whether you're designing new data platforms or modernising existing infrastructure, this session will provide actionable engineering insights to leverage Iceberg's full capabilities in production environments.

Viktor Kessler is the Co-Founder of Vakamo (founded December 2024), where he focuses on Apache Iceberg and Lakekeeper Catalog technologies. His technical expertise spans modern data infrastructure with a particular emphasis on open-source technologies and lakehouse architectures. Prior to founding Vakamo, Viktor built his technical expertise through roles at Dremio, MongoDB, ERGO Group. Viktor is actively involved in the data infrastructure community, particularly around Apache Iceberg implementations. His current focus appears to be on transforming data analytics from cost centers to profit centers through innovative data products and open technologies like Apache Iceberg and Lakekeeper Catalog.
OLake is an open-source data ingestion tool available on GitHub, developed by Datazip, Inc. Its primary function is to replicate data from transactional databases and streaming platforms (like PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Oracle, and Kafka) into open data lakehouse formats, like Apache Iceberg.
