About this event
The State of Craft is back with Season 4! This season is all about having conversations to learn how to best change the policies that are currently stopping craft cannabis producers in Canada from thriving. What are those policies? Read through our white paper: The Dire State of Craft Cannabis in Canada. It serves as the framework for the current season.
The first episode of season 4 features a group of Canadians that are fighting the same fight: the Canadian Cannabis Alliance. Here are their two major projects for 2025:
📑 Connecting with Policy Makers: creating templates and tools that assist you in connecting with the MP/MPP/MLA in your local jurisdictions to get the issue of Excise Tax on the table of as many offices as possible - before the next Federal election.
The Goal: mobilize the tens of thousands of people who work in the industry to educate the incoming government about our true impact and how Cannabis can support a healthy Canadian economy through tax and regulatory reform.
📣 Developing a Public Campaign; to show cannabis consumers/patients where their dollars really end up and to encourage them to shop their local, independent producers and retailers.
The Goal: mobilizing the millions of consumers and patients that have a vested interest in a healthy industry so that we can table a petition or bill for regulatory reform supported by constituents in every major riding.
The Canadian Cannabis Alliance' mission for the year is in perfect alignment with our mission for the season, so we invited them to be part of the first episode. Guest bios below.
Alannah Davis has been in the legal cannabis space since early 2018 just prior to legalization, working in the early days with a big LP in a variety of roles ranging from wholesale, product development and commercialization and process management. Her family was starting up an outdoor cannabis farm and she stepped in to help license and eventually build the brand Dabble Cannabis Co. Upon undertaking the whole operation, she realized that there are so many issues and felt compelled to work toward helping the industry accomplish its potential and bringing license holders together - eventually forming the BC and Canadian Cannabis Alliances to try to find common ground amongst all the associations - as a unified alliance.
