Insulation resistance tests of the PV array DC circuits

Performing insulation resistance measurements is a very important aspect of commissioning and maintenance of every PV plant. It helps to determine the safety level of the DC circuits as well as locating the possible fault. Apart from that - the results of insulation resistance tests of PV strings (among other data) are very often required by the manufacturers of inverters during the warranty claim process.

The proper execution of the tests and evaluation of the results is not an easy task. Different mistakes made by an operator can lead to false positive as well as false negative outcome of the test and may cause incorrect PV system diagnostic conclusions (in consequence also safety hazards and time/money losses).
