Material Bank's "Design Your Impact" Series
1 x IDCEC Credit Offered to All Attendees
With global climate change growing in severity and urgency, designers need to take a deeper look at building interiors as a source of carbon reduction. Most of the global building stock already exists, and renovations never stop during their 25+ year life spans, so their carbon footprint just keeps growing.
Join Suzanne Drake, senior interior designer, sustainability lead at Revel Architecture, and Christine Tiffin, senior consultant, sustainable materials specialist at ARUP, to learn how to use EPDs to inform your interior product selection and start improving your projects' embodied carbon footprints. Take control and lead your clients to do less harm, starting now!
Suzanne’s career has focused on commercial interiors, specializing in creating healthy environments and being the conduit for healthy materials knowledge dissemination. As an interior designer, she draws on over two decades of experience in workplace, health care, and laboratory environments to support client initiatives and sustainability goals. Currently, she is leading Revel’s firmwide sustainability initiative.
Christine is a senior consultant in Arup San Francisco’s Sustainability, Climate, Resilience, and Environment group. She specializes in embodied carbon, whole-building life cycle assessment, sustainable building materials, and green rating systems. Christine offers project teams practical advice to make more informed design decisions though the use of data and computational tools that integrate easily into real workflows, with the end goal to have a positive impact on the built and natural environment.
