Join Taeyoung Kim, a Senior Lighting and Look Dev Artist at Sony Pictures Imageworks whose film credits include: Vivo, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Smallfoot, as he shares his experience using Katana, not only as an artist but also as a teacher at the Langara Center of Entertainment Arts.
During this webinar, Taeyoung will discuss how Katana's sequence-based workflow and its ability to create shared tools and templates enables artists to work efficiently. Taeyoung will share one of his Katana scripts, favorite tricks, and insight on using Katana for live action and animation projects. Taeyoung will also explain the value of learning Katana and highlight several of his students success stories.
Arielle Martin, Foundry’s Lighting Associate Product Manager, will be joining to provide a quick Katana update and moderate the live Q&A at the end of the webinar.

Taeyoung Kim is a senior lighting and look dev artist at Sony Pictures Imageworks and a part-time Lighting instructor at Langara Center for Entertainment Art. Born and raised in South Korea, he grew up drawing and painting, but it was The Matrix that inspired him to pursue a career in VFX.
Arielle previously worked with Katana as a Pipeline Artist on animated films before starting at Foundry as a Creative Specialist, covering training and demos for Katana and Flix. She is now an Product Manager for Katana Lighting.
