About this event
The PPWR took effect on 12 August 2026. If your products' packaging or labels don't comply, you won't be able to sell them in the EU.
The PPWR is the EU's new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation. As a regulation, it applies directly and automatically across the whole EU, with no need for each country to transpose it into national law. It sets the rules for the packaging and labelling of every product placed on the European market.
And it isn't only about packaging manufacturers. It affects you if you import, manufacture or distribute packaged products. Making sure that packaging complies is your responsibility, and this time SMEs are not exempt either.
And take note: it's not just about plastic.
Cardboard, glass, metal, wood, composite packaging. They're all covered, and many companies still think it doesn't apply to them.
