Cutting Gardens: Bouquets, Small Spaces, and Lots of Blooms (Online Lecture)

About this event

Growing flowers brings beauty to your garden, supports pollinators, and provides bouquets to spread joy to others. Join Maya to hear about her urban flower farm on a half acre in urban Baltimore city, and learn how you can grow loads of cut flowers in your home garden or small farm. She will touch on variety selection, plant spacing, pest management, harvest practices, and some tips and tricks for making beautiful and bountiful homegrown bouquets.

Intended Audience: Adult All Levels: Suitable for all learners, this program will provide a variety of content. Program providers will answer both introductory and more advanced questions.

    Maya Kosok Owner and Lead Farmer @ Hillen Homestead

    Maya Kosok owns Hillen Homestead, a cut flower farm in Baltimore city that specializes in unique flowers and foliage. She is entering her 12th season in operation and sells primarily to florists and DIY wedding customers. Maya is passionate about sustainable agriculture, urban farming, community-building and grassroots change. Maya has spoken at numerous sustainable farming conferences, as well as the Maryland Horticultural Society and various garden clubs, and enjoys sharing her love of flower farming and city growing with others.
