François LUCAS, 53 years old, I have more than 30 years of experience in optimising energy performance in animal feed manufacturing plants. During my career at TECALIMAN, I have had the opportunity to carry out various actions contributing to the reduction of energy consumption in manufacturing processes and utilities : carrying out energy audits in more than 50 factories, drawing up energy measurement plans, drafting good practice guides, carrying out training, carrying out studies on the optimisation of the manufacturing process, carrying out a benchmarking of the energy performance of animal feed factories.
Graduated in 1994 as an engineer in grain industries, he has more than 25 years’ experience in feed and premix manufacturing. He works for Adisseo for 8 years (he started in the EAME region). During his career, he has had the pleasure of working in about 40 countries and more than 400 factories. His main driver today is definitely customers satisfaction about additives application in premix and feed plants.
Oliver Holmes, 47, graduated from Liverpool University as a biologist and ecologist in 1996. Since then, he has acquired over 25 years’ experience in all aspects of environmental management and sustainability, with particular focus on water, waste, and energy. He joined Cargill in 2011, responsible for environmental management across Cargill’s European protein business and since 2018 has overseen Avara’s environmental and compliance obligations across the UK. Oliver’s focus currently is developing energy, environmental and sustainability strategies for Avara, particularly relating to climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Birger Svihus graduated from the Agricultural University of Norway in 1991 with a degree in Animal Science, and completed his PhD in Poultry Nutrition at the same University in 1997. He is the author or co-author of more than 80 peer-reviewed scientific papers (H-index 34) and is the author of or contributor to several books, and numerous invited conference papers. His scientific work in poultry nutrition has mainly been within the area of cereal fibre and starch, feed technology, digestive tract function and feeding systems. He had a leading role in the organisation of the 14th ESPN (2003) and the 14th EPC (2014), organized under the auspices of WPSA. He was the president of the Norwegian branch of WPSA from 1996 to 2009 and the president of the European Federation of WPSA from 2014 to 2018. From 2016 through 2021, he was Editor-in-Chief in British Poultry Science.
