As the world gets closer to overcoming Covid-19 and begins to plan the economic road back, insurers face new challenges and opportunities. Lower for longer yields continue to bedevil the industry but reconstruction also brings with it new solutions for the insurance portfolio.
infrastructure looms large here and in the US, President Joe Biden has unveiled an ambitious fiscal stimulus programme, hailed by many as a modern New Deal. The Biden Plan is anchored around an ambitious programme of infrastructure investment and ensuring the US achieves a 100% clean energy economy with net-zero emissions no later than 2050.
The implications for long-term investors are profound.
