About this event
During this webinar, you will learn how to explore the "insides" of websites and extract information from them. A lot of tech companies rely on web scraping to fill their databases with publicly accessible information: price comparators, travel aggregators.
Scraping is widely used in marketing for market research or customer feedback analysis. Data scientists and business intelligence specialists will use scraping to build datasets and crunch numbers. Not to mention that Google's business was built on crawling and indexing the Web.
In this workshop, we use Python, the Beautiful Soup scraping library, and an interactive Jupyter notebook to show you the basics of web scraping in a step-by-step tutorial.
You are free to take home the resulting code and adjust it for your purposes. Some experience with Python will come handy, but is not necessary β basic programming concepts will be explained in an accessible hands-on manner.
How to be prepared?
π Have your own laptop fully charged
π Install any modern web browser (Chrome, Safari, or Firefox)
You don't need to pre-install any programming toolsβyou will be given access to interactive programming environment that runs in a browser.
Looking forward to e-meeting you! π
