For example, the world’s largest beverage company, Coca-Cola, invested in the startup Iris Nova which produce a line of premium functional drinks that feature superfood ingredients such as turmeric, collagen and cannabidiol. Modelez also looks to disrupt the functional food category by delivering nutrient dense snacks with its minority investment in Uplift food.
Our journey begins looking at the exotic fruits of Central and South America, followed by a stopover in the African regions native to the ancient grains of fonio and teff and finally ending our tour in Asia to observe the fungal and ferments that are finding their way into westernized diets. From fruits to tubers, these are just some of the superfoods which will be analyzed for their leading technologies and disruptive innovations in what gives a superfood, super-powers.
