Luke is a Partner and Business Advisor at MNP, providing specialized accounting, tax, and business support services to private enterprises on Vancouver Island and across Canada. Luke leads MNP’s cannabis service line for the Island and participates in setting the firms strategy across BC, drawing from his experience as Financial Controller of Rubicon Organics during the early years of legalization to provide quality service and value to the cannabis industry and its service providers.
Kayla Mann, CPA, CA - CFO, Habitat Life
Born, Bred, and Based in the Okanagan, BC, Kayla Mann started her accounting career at Ernst & Young, one of the largest professional services firms in the world. Since then, she has held a number of widely varied positions with companies from Bison farms to cannabis firms.
Kayla loves the excitement of the start up environment and the cannabis industry, holding several senior positions with The Valens Company before becoming the CFO of Habitat Life. Today, Kayla uses her diverse experience to manage the financial affairs of a company at the unique intersection of cannabis and sustainable seafood.
Kayla also pursues her passion a professional photographer, publishing nude, portrait, and street photography.
Dan Mallett, CPA - CFO & Co-founder, Alberta Bud Inc.
CFO and co-founder of Alberta Bud, founded 2019. Alberta Bud is the first micro-cultivation and micro-processor license holder in Alberta. They specialize in growing high-test craft cannabis, notably their proprietary Slurface and Uppercut Punch strains. Dan handles the accounting, compliance filings, shaking the money trees, and pretty much all things related to finance. Dan says "it’s a big job but it keeps the growers focused on what they do best!"
Prior to Alberta Bud, Dan owned and operated an accounting firm, Maddocks and Mallett LLP. He and his former partner started the firm in 2017, and focused on cloud-based accounting and disrupting the traditional firm model. Dan's efforts landed him a spot on Xero’s Canadian XPAC committee.
Until 2014, Dan was an RCAF Captain, and flew fighters doing radar jamming, combat readiness training, and flight instruction. He likens himself to Goose or R2D2, depending on your taste in movies.
