Espansione Group invites you to their event

Dr. Trave-Huarte l Preliminary results of a randomized double-masked clinical trial investigating the impact of LLLT on the ocular microbiome

About this event

Dry eye and ocular surface disorders are increasingly linked to imbalances in the ocular microbiome, which can impact lid health, inflammation, and tear film stability. Understanding how to modulate this microbiome is crucial for optimizing patient care.

Join Dr. Sonia Trave-Huarte as she presents preliminary findings from the first clinical trial investigating the effects of blue light photobiomodulation (LLLT) alone, without IPL, on the ocular microbiome. Conducted at Aston University, this study provides novel insights into how blue light may support lid and ocular surface health.

Key points include:

  • Understanding the ocular microbiome and its role in immune protection and ocular health
  • Impact of microbial overgrowth on lid margins, blepharitis, and meibomian gland dysfunction
  • Study design: red + blue light vs. sham control, randomized participants
  • Clinical outcomes: OSDI improvements, decrease in bacterial growth, lid margin health
  • Potential therapeutic benefits of LLLT on ocular surface and lid margin

The event will be followed by a LIVE Q&A session with Espansione's Medical Affairs Team.
