Joorney Business Plans Canada invites you to their event

Challenges and Alternatives for Potential Second Chances

About this event

Join us on May 8 at 11:30 AM ET for a critical discussion on Canadian business immigration!

Challenges and Alternatives for Potential Second Chances will explore the evolving landscape of Canada’s business immigration programs, including the Startup Visa (SUV). With rising rejection rates and legal challenges making headlines, this session brings clarity to the current landscape—plus guidance for those navigating rejections or seeking a path forward.

This webinar will deliver valuable insights, practical examples, and legal considerations to help immigration professionals like yourself support your clients more effectively.

Our expert speakers will dive into questions like:

  • What does the current Canadian business immigration landscape look like post-election?
  • How is the Startup Visa program being treated today—and are more changes on the horizon?
  • Why are so many applicants being refused, even when they appear to meet all the requirements?
  • What does “showing progress” actually mean in the eyes of IRCC—and how arbitrary is this standard?
  • What kinds of SUV PR refusals are applicants seeing, and what legal avenues exist to respond?
  • Are litigation efforts—both individual and group-based—starting to shift the system, or is it still an uphill battle?

We’ll also discuss how collaboration among applicants, professionals, and advocacy groups might help drive real change—and offer some final encouragement for those who may be feeling discouraged by the current process.

Don't miss this opportunity to hear directly from two professionals actively engaged in litigation, reform efforts, and hands-on client support.

Sign up now and join us live on May 8 at 11:30 AM ET!

Pantea Jafari

As lead counsel, Pantea Jafari, oversees all cases flowing through Jafari Law. Since opening Jafari Law in 2012, Pantea has successfully helped hundreds of individuals and families looking to immigrate to Canada temporarily and permanently and to maintain their status once obtained.

Pantea obtained an honors BA in Individualized studies with a decided focus on human rights and international law from York University. She obtained her law degree from the University of Ottawa with a specialization in International Law.

As a first generation Canadian, Pantea is readily able to appreciate the experiences of those aspiring for a future in Canada, and those struggling to maintain the status they have acquired. Her ability to connect with the experiences of her clients not only enables her to better tell their stories and explain their circumstances, but to also advocate for result-oriented solutions in the at-times inflexible system of immigration rules and regulations.

Pantea has always been active in various legal and community organizations over the years, which volunteerism she has maintained since opening her practice. Presently, she serves on the executive of the Canadian Bar Association’s Anti-Racism Committee. She is a previous board member of the Ontario Bar Association’s Citizenship and Immigration Section and International Law Section, the Canadian Muslim Lawyer’s Association, the Iranian Canadian Legal Professionals, to name a few. She has also appeared before various Parliamentary Committees at the House and Senate level on behalf of some of these organizations.

Prior to her legal practice, Pantea owned and operated a mid-sized corporation, worked for a foreign government drafting national child-welfare policies, and interned at an international law firm in Madrid, Spain.
