Introduction to Autotuning

Manually tuning a digital voltage regulator requires expertise and years of experience to quickly determine the best starting gains for a voltage regulator to be tuned to a generator. An out-of-service machine combined with the cost of testing and fuel consumed can be very expensive. Today, a new feature described called Auto Tuning is offered as a method to help reduce the time required for commissioning.

Doug Steinacher holds a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology and is currently employed at Basler Electric Company as the Strategic Accounts Manager - Excitation Systems Group.

In his 35 years of employment with Basler Electric, Doug has held several positions including Product Line Manager and Senior Application Specialist.   In addition, he has authored several Application Notes and has presented at various events such as the Electrical Generating Systems Association “On-Site” Power Schools and at HydroVision USA along with supporting various training seminars around the world.

Doug has been a Grandpa for 10 months now and really enjoys it!
