Exploring the Zero Trust mandate and how it can help Australia's cyber security target

In the US the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) issued a Binding Operational Directive (BOD) 23-02, Mitigating the Risk from Internet-Exposed Management Interfaces. It requires federal civilian agencies to remove specific networked management interfaces from the public-facing internet or implement Zero Trust Architecture capabilities that enforce access control to the interface within 14 days of discovery.

Having firewalls, VPN's and other network devices exposing their IP addresses to the internet is like shining a light above an entry door to your organisation for cyber criminals. It is a significant cyber risk that every organisation can avoid through a Zero Trust Architecture.
