About this event
The North Sea Transition Authority estimates the total cost of oil and gas decommissioning to be £54 billion, creating a huge opportunity for the industry to deliver technologies to drive efficiency throughout the whole decommissioning process.
The Net Zero Technology Centre is focused on enabling, accelerating, and inspiring the development and deployment of new technologies to help drive the journey to the net-zero energy industry.
Digital simulation and decision-making developments are key focuses to achieving these targets. With over 125 topsides and 115 jacket structures to be removed or reused within the UKCS, over the next decade, and well P&A estimated to account for 51% of total UKCS decommissioning costs (or £27bn est. over the life of basin) it’s imperative that all work scopes are undertaken with in perpetuity integrity and environmental responsibility for produced fields as our prime focus. Data and digital innovations will be key - planning, forecasting, and decision-making have never been so important.
