Material selection is one of the fundamental aspects that will determine the success or failure of a product. This presentation will address some of the considerations that need to be made when selecting a plastic resin, and outline the challenges and benefits of selecting an appropriate material. It will also will introduce a systematic process that will optimize the plastics material selection process.

Melissa Kurtz holds an M.S. degree in Material Science and Engineering from Wayne State University. She has over 25 years of experience serving the global product development community across several industries. She is an expert in material selection, test method development, and failure analysis.
Paul received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin- Madison in 1995 and is currently the President of The Madison Group. In 2003 he became an Adjunct Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Wisconsin- Madison.
