About this event
Over recent years, global initiatives have been implemented to recognise, highlight and tackle the carbon contributions from the MEP sector.
Despite the push toward better visibility and accuracy of the carbon impact of MEP systems, the number of organisations creating and publishing Environmental product Declarations (EPDs) remains low. The complex make-up of components and the lack of easily-accessible data have made it difficult to measure embodied carbon accurately.
An accurate sustainability assessment within construction is only possible with the inclusion of the MEP components. While estimations of MEP carbon impact have become commonplace as the focus shines on construction, it is now known that MEP components account for a significant proportion of total CO2 emissions over a building’s life cycle. The growing focus on MEP's carbon contribution means that EPDs are gaining traction as a critical element in design considerations.
Join Matteo Dall'Ombra and Ryan Philp from Daikin, the world's largest air conditioning manufacturer, as they highlight the importance of EPDs in MEP, and how One Click LCA's EPD Generator has simplified the EPD creation process. And hear from One Click LCA’s Johanna Jarvinen, as she demonstrates how the One Click LCA MEP Carbon Tool and databases are enabling the industry to take a more sustainable and transparent approach.

Matteo has in the industry for 12 years, on a fascinating journey. His background is in business administration and engineering, which has provided a solid foundation for his career. During his time with Daikin, he has moved across various roles, from pre-sales to training to product management, giving him a great overview of the industry. He strives to understand how Daikin customers work and what they’re looking for from a leading HVAC manufacturer. In my current role, I’m responsible for Daikin’s commercial portfolio, with a focus on bringing the most sustainable solutions to the UK market.
Ryan is leading the design and vision of Daikin New Zealand’s long term strategic sustainability plan, including working to set ambitious and tangible goals across environmental, social and governance themes. Defining and championing the sustainability vision and responsibilities inherent in kaitiakitanga for Daikin New Zealand internally and externally, both as an organisation and as a leader and key participant in the wider national and international HVACR industry. He assists the development of market strategies around Daikin product and systems implementation, driving sustainable outcomes for the company and stakeholders.
