Le Wagon United Kingdom invites you to their event

Let's talk about startups: Women in tech

About this event

Are you curious about how to launch a startup? Are you a Founder yourself, or would like to become one?

Join our webinar to hear all about the entrepreneurship journeys of our guests speakers. They come from different backgrounds and have travelled down different paths, but with the same hunger to start their tech career and launch a startup.

We are glad to welcome Sonya Barlow, and our alumni Sahar Khan and Nathalie Christmann-Cooper, our savvy entrepreneurs.

Schedule:

  • 15m: Introductions
  • 30m: Panel talk
  • 25m: Q&A

Who are they?

Sonya Barlow is the Founder of Like Minded Females (LMF), a diversity social enterprise; TEDxSpeaker and consultant.

Like Minded Females is changing the narrative of inclusion through life skills workshops, community building and corporate training. Sonya has been recognised as a Rising Star (2017); UK Tech Business Woman of the Year Finalist (2018) and Winner of Pitchfanzine (2019). 👩‍💻

She is passionate about encouraging inclusive cultures, educating on life skills and enabling people to achieve success. Her TED talk is now on YouTube titled "Failures come before Resilience". 💯

---------------

Sahar is the Founder of MyFinishLine, a platform to get help people find the best way to train before a race, and a Software Engineer at Veequo.

After spending 3 years at Amazon working as a Manager in Operations and moving up the ranks, Sahar realized that she was not on a career path that she was passionate about. She had been thinking about building an app to fix a problem she truly cares about: Increasing inclusion and participation in endurance sporting events by enabling new-comers to the sport to learn, practically, how to train. 🏃‍♀️

She spent some time researching the best strategy to make it happen and after some soul searching realised that she was going to learn to code and build this herself. She completed the 9 week Le Wagon intensive web-development bootcamp, with the last two weeks building a basic MVP of my product. The 6 months after the boot camp were spent touching up and testing the app before launching it late last year. 📱

---------------

Nathalie is one of a small but growing contingent of women over the age of 40, who've made significant career changes to break into the UK tech industry.

With a background in graphics, she undertook a self-directed learning path to master building websites. In 2015 Nathalie co-founded a food-tech startup TreatOut and undertook the Google Campus for Mums Startup Programme. Her next move was a full-stack coding Bootcamp with Le Wagon London in 2016. She secured a developer job at the start of 2018, her first 'employed' position in 22 years, making her a firm advocate for women returners into tech. 🙋🏻

She took the tough decision to resign fromTreatOut in May 2019 but she intends to continue to work on her idea now rebranded as myFeastOut. By day she is a Software Engineer at Zoopla. 💻

Looking forward to e-meeting you!
