    Joel Derbyshire Country Director and Regional Energy Lead - Trade @ British Embassy Baku

    Joel Derbyshire is the Director of Trade at the British Embassy Baku and UK government’s energy transition lead for Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Joel helps UK exporters win business in Azerbaijan and helps UK energy businesses connect with opportunities across the region. Joel also sits on the boards of the British Chamber of Commerce Azerbaijan and The International School of Azerbaijan. Prior to joining the British Embassy Baku, Joel led trade and investment work both in Indonesia and the UK. Prior to joining the UK’s trade ministry, Joel worked at the Government Equalities Office and led a number of high profile programmers on gender and disability. Before joining the Civil Service, Joel worked in marketing / communications for Saatchi and Saatchi. Fuel Public Relations and the Green Party.

    Jim has spent 25 years working on cultural programmes and capital projects around the world. A sculptor and exhibition designer by training, Jim’s career has ranged from scenic art to interpretative planning to cultural diplomacy. He has led interpretation departments for Historic Scotland and the British Museum, and spent over a decade on the senior management teams at the BM and the Natural History Museum, delivering programmes across Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.
