Balancing Production and Reliability in Steam Reformers

About this webinar

The primary steam reformer often ranks highly in plant risk assessments, due to complex damage mechanisms and large consequences of failure. However, the risk associated with the primary reformer is highly dependent on its operation. A balance exists between reliability and production, and in some cases, it is necessary to operate close to limits. This may be either intentional or simply a consequence of a separate issue. In order to do this successfully, it is necessary to understand the effects of operating conditions on reliability.

In this webinar Quest Integrity will present an engineering methodology for understanding risk, particularly in catalyst tubes, and making decisions regarding operation. A successful case study is presented in which the production of a hydrogen-constrained unit was optimized through inspection and engineering.
