About this event
Join us for a free online webinar on Tuesday the 1st of March at 2 pm (GMT). In this event, we will be joined by our collaborators at The Welding Institute (TWI) and Swansea University to discuss the use of our novel PIP test technique for characterising the mechanical properties (stress-strain curves) of welds. The characterisation of both anisotropy and inhomogeneity in welded regions will be discussed in detail.

After a long career in academia, mainly in Cambridge University, I've moved into the commercial world as CSO at Plastometrex. This is a startup based in Cambridge, exploiting research in the Materials Science area that was carried out in my research group over the past couple of decades.
Material scientist in the field of optical microscopy and SEM. Skilled in Polarised microscopy, EBSD, crystallography, Microstructure analysis. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) focused on Materials Science and Engineering from Swansea University.
Over 30 years of experience in welding and fabrication. Including oil rigs, bridges, pressure vessels, pipework, and structural. Currently 7 years with TWI as a consulting welding engineer and project leader.
Plastometrex is combining materials science, advanced numerical modelling, optimisation methods, and machine learning tools to create new generation materials testing solutions.
