Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) and Vesuvio Labs cordially invite you to a webinar entitled “Visionary Women in Tech – Inspiring Diversity, Leadership and Entrepreneurship”.

Women outperform on almost every dimension of leadership, the evidence for this just keeps on growing. In tech, women are breaking barriers and creating for themselves a more empowered female leadership landscape.

This webinar will line-up and reveal the inspiring personal journeys from a panel of accomplished women who have embraced technology and going beyond; As the world innovates and technology advances, the opportunity for businesses and society to advance women in STEM careers has never been greater.

It aims to shed light on the pioneering role women worldwide are conducting and highlight specifically the role Women in Qatar have in supporting the national economy, at the increasing rate we see today.

The webinar is a ‘by registration only’ event and will be held virtually on Tuesday, 24 May 2022, from 12:00 pm to 01:00 pm.

    Alanoud bint Hamad Al-Thani is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Business Officer of Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), where she plays an integral part in achieving QFC’s vision of transforming Doha into a leading global financial and commercial hub through attracting FDI and developing a sustainable local economy. Previous to her current role, Alanoud was instrumental in driving the organisation’s record growth over the past five years and sustaining growth even during the pandemic, increasing by 80 per cent the number of firms registering on the platform in 2020. Prior to joining the QFC, Alanoud served as the Qatar Country Representative and Director for Silatech, a Qatar-based social initiative that connects young people to employment opportunities across the Arab region.     Tamara Rida General Counsel @ University of Doha for Science and Technology

    Tamara Rida is the General Counsel at the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) and is registered on the Roll of Solicitors in the UK, and the Jordanian Bar Association. Ms. Rida joined the College of the North Atlantic in Qatar as its first in-house general legal counsel and worked to establish the Legal Affairs department and governance structure, which lead transformation of the college to UDST from a legal precedent. Prior to joining UDST, Ms. Rida worked as a corporate lawyer, and assisted businesses on a wide range of subjects. She became a partner in the Saed Karajah & Associates firm, early in her career. Being passionate about human rights, she was among the establishers of the No Honour in Crime campaign in Jordan and helped found the Junior Chamber International chapter in Jordan. Ms. Rida was also chosen to intern at the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime in Vienna, which inspired her to pursue research on the application of AI in the judiciary.

    Prior to joining Visa, Dr Jaffar was the Managing Director at Alvarez & Marsal ME, the world’s leading turnaround and restructuring firm. Dr Jaffar has also held leadership positions at McKinsey & Company as well as Bain & Company, serving clients across the U.S., Europe and the GCC. Over her 20 years of professional career, Dr Jaffar has worked in the Middle East, Europe, and the U.S. on a wide range of strategic, M&A and performance-related issues with clients across a range of industries, while specializing in financial services including universal banks, private banks, investment banks, private equity firms, sovereign wealth funds, government institutions and family-owned businesses. Dr. Jaffar is an Emirati national and earned a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Boston University, where she was the valedictorian. She earned a master's degree and a doctorate in chemical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT.)

    With a background in software engineering, Marwa moved into the world of an Islamic Fintech firm bringing with her several years of software development experience. Marwa spearheaded the development of Yielders’ innovative technology platform leading a small team, she drove the strategy and roll-out of a platform serving over 10,000 investors globally. Doing so, she has opened-up access to financial inclusion for those underserved by traditional financial products. Marwa has also been recognised for her advocacy of the industry and a commitment to the personal and professional development of those around with numerous awards. Her most recent, for Woman in Technology at the Muslim Women Awards, heralded her efforts to increase invisibility of Muslim women in technology.Finally, in her new role as Senior Project Manager and Agile Coach at Vesuvio Labs (Fintech Venture Builder), Marwa has shown that she is able to come into an organisation and drive fundamental change extremely quickly.
